Why “Back to the Roots”?
Because sometimes, to move forward, you have to look back. Because in a world that never stops rushing, I found the most powerful journey was the one back to myself — to my childhood, my land, and the simple, wild flavors that shaped me.
I’m Alice, also known as The Nomad Lasagna — a name that tells the story of someone who has traveled far, explored many lives, and always found comfort in the warmth of a shared meal.

I was born in 1994 and I grew up in Apecchio, a tiny village nestled between the forests and rivers of central Italy. Some of my sweetest memories are simple and tender: going mushroom hunting and picking wild asparagus with my dad, walking barefoot in the cold river water, helping my grandma close homemade cappelletti in the kitchen, feeding the chickens with nonno Serafino, or playing a game with my mum where we’d sit still, close our eyes, and listen to the sounds of nature. She’s no longer here, but that game still echoes inside me — teaching me to slow down and really listen.
Later on, life took me far from those woods. I studied Economics and Business Management at Bocconi University in Milan, then lived in London and Rome, working in marketing, sales, and account management. The pace was fast, the opportunities exciting. But over time, I began to feel disconnected from something essential. I didn’t know exactly what was missing — until one spring day, I found it again.
For my 30th birthday, my best friends surprised me with a cooking class by Lake Trasimeno. During that class, I tasted a wild herb salad for the first time. One leaf of pimpinella, with its delicate nutty flavor, alongside bitter dandelion and fresh navelwort — and something in me shifted. It was more than taste. It was memory. It was childhood. It was home. That instant awakened a part of me I didn’t even realize I had forgotten.
What started as a feeling became a passion — and eventually, a mission:to inspire people to nourish themselves in a way that’s conscious, sustainable, and deeply connected to nature. Through foraging and cooking with wild herbs, we rediscover not just forgotten plants, but forgotten parts of ourselves.

What is Back to the Roots?
Back to the Roots is a five-day experience created for those who want to pause, hear their inner voice, meet their inner child, and reconnect with nature and meaning. It’s a journey inside and out, made up of:
Foraging walks to discover the wild herbs around us
Cooking workshops using foraged plants and ancient recipes
Sensory walks and barefoot grounding
Creative labs with clay, natural materials, and free expression
Sound baths to invite stillness and emotional release
Silent dinners — shared meals in total presence
Every activity is an invitation to slow down, get your hands in the earth, awaken your senses, and remember who you are beneath the noise of modern life.
Back to the Roots isn’t just a retreat — it’s a homecoming.
To yourself. To simplicity. To slowness. To the child who once closed her eyes and listened to the forest — and is still in there, waiting.
